Play Online Battlefield Bad Company 2?

I am new Battlefield Bad Company 2, but I'm having some difficulty to level up. There is a great distance from one level to another. I have to add many points to pass the level quickly and have to fight with players with a very high rank. Sometimes it is frustrating to gain a few points! Someone can give me a help to play better? thanks
