Is there an android email notifying app?

I have a droid eris and i was wondering if the is an android app that notifies you when you recieve an email. Im looking for an app the notifes you like when you recieve a text message. I have K9-mail but i have hit the check mail button to recieve the notifications. It does not update automatically and notify me of new email. Is there free app like this?
