I bought my puppy yesterday and when I was playing with him I noticed a little black bug with long wings...?

they were long black bugs with long wings but it was very small a few hours before that I found a little red bug crawling around on him it was really fast i tried to catch it but he crawled away in my dogs fur I went out and bought some k9 advantix 2 and put that on him almost immediately but will it kill whatever bugs those were and keep them from coming back? i really dont want my house to be infested fleas or whatever those bugs were
